Teacher Education Regenerated (TE_REG ). Beyond Competencies - Rethinking andredesigning teacher education curricula inthe GenAI era
The aim is to redesign and further developteacher training in the age of Generative AI(GenAI) in order to meet current and futurechallenges in education.
What do we want to achieve by implementing the project?
Quality Teacher Education (TE) is essential for quality education as stated in UNSGD4. Evolving societal needs reqire a re-evaluation of TE, tackling both internaland external challenges. Internally, a truly integrated and integrating perspectiveis developed as an alternative to fragmented competency-based teacherstandards. Externally, GenAI is put forward as a supportive tool that facilitatesteachers to focus on core tasks. Six TE-institutions sharing UNESCO principlesdevelop new conceptualizations and practices that meet today’s and tomorrow’schallenges.Implementation
What acitivities are we going to implement?
With respect to the challenges of both fragmentation in competency-based TEcurricula and GenAI, TE_REG explores non-competency-based approaches to TE –including that of a ‚dispositional view on teaching‘ – considering the affordances ofGenAI. Additionaly, the TE_REG partners conceptualize context-specific TEcurricula that reflect this shift and develop a tool that can be used by decision-makers and teacher educators when considering fundamental innovations in theirteaching and learning practices.
